March 2026

RESPECT ~ RESPONSIBILITY ~ KINDNESS

Family and Friends,

We are wishing you a wonderful month of warmer weather and a celebration of READING!  March will begin with a celebration of Read Across America Week and the library sponsored Read-A-Thon. Students may enjoy dressing up, reading at special times throughout the day, and an additional focus on literacy leading up to Spring Break.

Students in grades 3-8 will complete their third and final benchmark assessment leading up to TCAPs. We are very excited to see their progress as they demonstrate their learning from the school year.

Spring Break will be held March 16th-20th. We hope everyone has a safe and relaxing break. We'll all plan to come back refreshed and ready to complete the final quarter of school.

Best,

LLyons

Welcome Parents, Students and Friends to our Read-a-thon!
It’s time again for our annual Read-a-thon fundraiser! The main focus of the Read-a-thon is for everyone to know we are committed to improving reading skills. To that end, the Read-a-thon promises to be a fun, exciting journey for all participants as they begin a personal Reading Adventure that challenges each reader to complete 10 reading sessions over our 2-week event.
Our Read-a-thon will start March 2, 2026 and will end March 13, 2026.
By simply activating your reader’s personal page and using the promotional tools found there, you can invite friends and family anywhere in the world to show their support for your reader by making a single, lump sum donation to our Read-a-thon. We will complete their 10 reading sessions during the school day. Funds raised through this program will be used to purchase new books and supplies for our library as well as fund author visits and other literacy incentives.
Thank you so much for supporting your child’s love of reading and helping to provide books for all our students and teachers to use and enjoy!!
Please contact Mrs. Nash at acordl@wcde.org or 423-788-7340 with any questions.

Be a TCAP Proctor!

Students will be taking TCAPs April 20th through April 29th.  Each classroom will have a test administrator (teacher) and a test proctor.  We are  looking for volunteer test proctors.  We need approximately 25 volunteers each day.

What is a test proctor?

Serve as additional monitors to help the test administrator assure that testing occurs in a fair and ethical manner.

Aide the test administrator in passing out pencils and scrap paper.

Help ensure students are on the correct page.

If you are able to volunteer, we would greatly appreciate your time and support.   Please use the Google Form Link to sign up for any or all dates you would be able to volunteer as a proctor.  Include your name, email, and telephone number. A member of our testing team will contact you for confirmation.  If you have any questions or concerns about becoming a volunteer proctor, please call 423-788-7340.

Google Form Link: https://forms.gle/FgPFw28XD4QhThC87

Please print and fill out the two sheets linked here in order to be a volunteer for TCAP.  You can email these back to Lori Jenkins at jenkinsl@wcde.org or send both with your child to their homeroom teacher.  Forms need to be returned by Friday, March 27.  Thank you!

Do you ever wonder how you can help your child be more successful in his/her school work? The answer is this simple -- READ!

Read with your children. Read to your children. Let them see you enjoy reading time yourself, and especially, listen to them read aloud to you.

We know you hear this recommendation from us over and over again, but it truly is a huge factor in academic success.
