RESPECT ~ RESPONSIBILITY ~ KINDNESS

Families and Friends,

We are officially moving into the second nine weeks of the school year! This is one of the most exciting times to watch our students grow and achieve academically. Their progress occurs from their intentional work, and your support from home makes a huge impact!

First nine weeks report cards will come home on Friday, October 17th, but remember you can view grades at any time through PowerSchool's Parent Portal. Please review your child’s progress with them regularly.

Students in grades 3-8 have just completed their first quarter benchmark assessment (MVPA-CASE). This standards-based assessment is a first glimpse at student progress for the year and allows teachers and staff to better individualize instruction. Please review progress with your child for this assessment and reach out to your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued support and for helping make the first nine weeks such a success!

Best,
LLyons

Communication

In the past couple of weeks, we have discovered a significant communication problem from our school to families. Families who have multiple email addresses associated with their child in PowerSchool have not been receiving any of our emails through the communication platform. The district team is working to resolve this issue promptly.

Until then, we will push email messages out as links via text and the WCS app. Both of these formats seem to be working best because these routes pull from the phone number fields in PowerSchool.

Please accept my sincere apology for this break down in communication. This is not how I like to conduct business, and I am so sorry that you've not been receiving important updates from our school. -LLyons

In the Classroom

Students are working hard each day in the classroom. Teachers provide high-quality instruction and require students to think deeply and demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. In each classroom, we observe a great culture for learning and a high level of engagement. Be sure to ask your child what he/she is learning!
