Message from Mrs. Krissi McInturff

Dear Families,

I have loved seeing pictures of students, families, faculty, and staff enjoying the snow this week! As more photos are shared, I will continue to post them on our social media page. We have also shared a Snow Day Choice Board with optional activities designed to keep students engaged in reading, writing, problem-solving, and creativity. While not a requirement or expectation, we would love to see or hear how students learned at home this week. If you complete three activities, let your teacher know!

Please take a look at our Calendar, as many activities have been rescheduled (a paper copy will be coming home Monday).

We look forward to welcoming everyone back Monday and returning to our routines.

What do you enjoy most about working at Sulphur Springs?: Sulphur Springs School is truly my home. I began my teaching career here straight out of college and was immediately blessed with incredible colleagues who made me feel like part of a family. Even after time away, returning to Sulphur Springs felt just like coming home. The family atmosphere remains strong, supported by amazing administrators and teachers who are passionate about learning. They work tirelessly to spark enthusiasm in students and inspire them to reach their personal best

What inspired you to work in education? My mom was my greatest inspiration to become a teacher. I watched her positively impact the lives of countless students, and her passion for teaching deeply influenced me. When I began my educational journey, she shared a quote that has stayed with me ever since: “The whole art of teaching is only the art of awakening the natural curiosity of young minds for the purpose of satisfying it afterward.” I was also fortunate to teach alongside her at Sulphur Springs before she retired, which made my experience even more meaningful.

What’s a fun fact or hobby you enjoy?: I love reading, hiking, and traveling with my family.

Introducing: Family Connection Days!

Here at SS, we have been brainstorming new ways to help families stay connected. One of the best ways to do this is by setting up the WCS app. Within this one app, families can receive real-time announcements from the school and from individual teachers through their classroom “rooms.”

If you need help getting started or navigating the app, we are happy to help. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, simply send Mrs. McInturff an email at mcinturffk@wcde.org with the time and date you would prefer to meet.

We can also assist families with navigating PowerSchool or other websites their students use during this time, including setting up alerts that notify you when your child’s grade changes due to a new assignment.
