Message from Mrs. Krissi McInturff

Dear Sulphur Spring Families,

Thank you for your continued support as we grow and learn to be problem solvers!
To continue highlighting students who consistently demonstrate what it means to be respectful, confident, encouraging, and kind, we have implemented the Gamecock Golden Star Award. One student from each homeroom in PreK–5 and one student from 6-8 will receive a certificate and star pin and will be recognized during our Friday announcements. We will also communicate this by email to family members. We are all excited about this new recognition process.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe weekend!

Teacher Spotlight:

  1. Name: Hannah Sifford

  2. Grade/Subject: 2nd Grade

  3. What do you enjoy most about teaching at Sulphur Springs?:

I love teaching at Sulphur Springs because it truly feels like a family. Everyone is invested in each other’s success, and that creates a positive, encouraging environment where both students and teachers can thrive.

  4. What inspired you to become a teacher?

I had a wonderful first grade teacher, Mrs. Janet Gray.  She was so kind to everyone and she made learning fun.  From a young age, I knew I wanted to help children discover their own love of learning- just like she did for me.

  5. What’s a fun fact or hobby you enjoy?

I love baking bread and other sweet treats for my family.

Updates:

Dear Gamecock Families,

We’re excited to celebrate our students’ hard work and positive choices during our upcoming EPIC (Gamecock) Celebration! Each nine weeks, students have the opportunity to participate in special events recognizing those who consistently demonstrate our Sulphur Springs Daily Actions of being Respectful, Confident, Encouraging, and Kind.

To attend the EPIC Celebration, students must:
Continue to model respectful, confident, encouraging, and kind behavior.
Have no behavior-related detentions or a loss of 15 or more behavior points during the 9-week period.
(Grades 3–8 only) Have all assignments completed before the celebration.

We want every student to be part of the fun! Please help us by encouraging your child to make positive choices each day and stay focused on both their behavior and academic responsibilities.

Thank you for your continued support in helping our Gamecocks shine! We look forward to celebrating their success together! Please see the attachment for more information about the celebrations!

Automation and Irrigation

Our 5th-grade students are making strides in agricultural innovation! They designed and built prototypes of automated irrigation systems that integrated with Finch robots, allowing for precise water management in cornfields. This hands-on project not only fosters coding skills but also addresses real-world agricultural challenges.

Innovative solutions emerging from the next generation!

Library Class Highlights: Typing Skills and Leaf Art

Our 4th and 5th graders are excited to be learning touch typing during library class! Developing this skill will help them become more efficient and confident test-takers. Beyond speeding up their typing, touch typing improves focus, reduces mistakes, and builds computer literacy—an essential skill for today’s digital world.

Meanwhile, our younger students in PreK through 3rd grades enjoyed nature-inspired lessons centered around author Lois Ehlert’s creative use of leaves in her books. They explored the characteristics of a maple tree just outside the library and then used real maple and elm leaves to create their own beautiful leaf artwork. It was a wonderful way to connect literature with the natural world!
