Message From Dr. Little

STEM DESIGNATION

As we continue to navigate the academic year, we want to emphasize the importance of actively monitoring your child's grades and maintaining open communication with their teachers.

Regularly checking your child's grades serves as a valuable tool in understanding their academic progress. It allows you to identify areas where they excel and areas where they may need additional support. By staying informed about your child's performance, you can work together with teachers to address any challenges early on.

Communication with teachers is key to a successful academic journey. Teachers are here to support your child's learning and development, and they appreciate parents who actively engage in the educational process. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns about your child's academic performance. Whether it's through emails, scheduled meetings, or parent-teacher conferences, maintaining open lines of communication fosters a collaborative approach to your child's education.

Our teachers are always adjusting to any types of barriers for student success. We are making it a priority to reach out to parents throughout the semester by phone conversation when concerns surface pertaining to academic, social, or emotional success or barriers.

Parents can use Powerschool to monitor their children's performance at any time. If any parent needs support with Powerschool, please contact our data clerk Mitzie Brown at brownm@wcde.org

Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring the success of your child. Together, we can create a positive and enriching learning environment.

Student Voice

We would like to spotlight the leadership team this week for helping set up the stimulation room. They also created a presentation to give to the eighth graders on expectations and guidelines for the room. They gave this presentation to only eighth graders, so they can experiment how it works. Other grade levels will have the opportunity to experience the room later in the semester. Eighth graders will have access to the room starting Tuesday, January 21st. Our goal is for students to use this room to reset, reflect, and refocus to improve academic and social emotional excellence.

Classroom STEAM Achievements

SSES prepared for the arrival of...the Elves! Students were asked to make the Elf families feel welcome as they were to arrive here for a vacation. Students designed and created housing, meals, and entertaining activities for the vacationing Elves. It was mentioned that some of the elves are exploring the possibility of making our area their seasonal home!
