Message from Mrs. Krissi McInturff

Dear Sulphur Spring Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Fall Break! I am excited to begin another quarter seeing our students grow, learn, and continue to be problem solvers.

Over the break, our faculty had time to meet and reflect on what being a problem solver truly means at Sulphur Springs. We agreed that it begins with empowering everyone in our building to be a leader. We trust our students, provide them with regular and attainable goals, encourage creativity, and offer resources that stretch beyond their current reach. We appreciate new ideas, support growth opportunities, promote teamwork and partnerships, and maintain a culture of shared responsibility and purpose.

We also recognized that our accomplishments hold true meaning only when we are respectful, confident, encouraging, and kind members of both our school and the broader community.

Today, report cards were finalized and are now available for families to view in PowerSchool. If you are unable to access your child’s grades, please contact the school office for assistance. Next week, CASE parent reports for students in grades 3–8 will also be sent home. These reports are a great way to see areas where your child is excelling and areas that may need additional support or practice. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or would like to discuss these results further.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

Monarch Updates

Kindergarten and 1st grade students have been observing Monarch eggs and caterpillars for several weeks. They have watched the changes in the life cycle, from egg to caterpillar, then to chrysalis, and finally to Monarch butterflies. As it’s time for the Monarchs to migrate, students are learning about Monarch conservation while the last butterflies are emerging, making the experience both fun and exciting.

Iggy Peck

2nd Grade Creativity Shines!

The future of innovation is bright with our 2nd graders! Inspired by "Iggy Peck, Architect" by Andrea Beaty, students engaged in the engineering design thinking process and explored the question: Is a building the only thing a brick could be used for? Their unique suggestions included a pencil holder, a vibrant rainbow, and even a karate chop! This exercise shows the power of imagination and critical thinking to encourage creativity and thinking outside the box.

MindCave

Right before fall break, our Life Skills 101 class culminated in an engaging basic first aid session for middle school students. Nurse Wendi visited to teach and demonstrate essential first aid techniques. Students learned how to respond to life-threatening emergencies and practiced applying a tourniquet on each other, gaining hands-on experience and valuable skills they can use in real-life situations.
