Message from Mrs. Krissi McInturff |

Dear Sulphur Spring Families,
We have had yet another great week here at the Springs. One of the highlights was our Veteran’s Day Assembly. We were honored to welcome the ROTC from Boone High School, along with one of their instructors, First Sergeant Craig Wilcox, who participated in the program. We also enjoyed a wonderful performance from our 4th and 5th graders, led by Mrs. Blaser. They have worked hard for weeks, and they sounded fantastic. As a school family, we want to thank all veterans for their service.
A few weeks ago, we shared that students from each homeroom would be selected weekly to receive the Gamecock Golden Star Award. If your child receives this award, please know that they consistently demonstrate the qualities that reflect our school’s vision and values: respect, confidence, encouragement, and kindness. We have already recognized around forty students, and we are incredibly proud of each recipient. We would like to thank them for the choices they make every day to support our school community.
Looking ahead: please make sure to check your child’s folder on Monday for their midterms. This is a great opportunity to talk with your child, and if needed their teachers, about any areas that may need additional support. It is also a wonderful time to celebrate their growth!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend. Thank you, as always, for your support!

New Gym Logo Vote
Our faculty and staff have been discussing an update to our gym logo and would love to hear from our community. Please take a look at the logo selected during our staff vote and share your thoughts. Do you prefer this new design, or would you rather keep the current logo? At this time, the change would apply to the gym only. Please vote by Monday, November 17th at noon.

Stories Build Confience
Middle schoolers reading to 1st graders = magic. Older students grow as leaders, sharpen fluency, and learn to use voice & tone. Little listeners gain better pacing, bigger vocab, and a friendly role model. Everyone walks away loving reading more. |
Kites from Repurposed Bags!
Have you ever seen a grocery bag fly?
Our 1st graders read "One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of the Gambia" and then planned and built kites from repurposed grocery bags. They tested designs, solved problems, and connected a powerful story to hands-on creativity. Seeing reading turn into real-world action was inspiring!

4th & 5th Veteran's Day
What a moving Veteran’s Day at our school!
Thank you, Ms. Blaser, and the wonderful 4th & 5th grade students for putting on an amazing program to honor our veterans and guests. A special thank-you to First Sergeant Craig Wilcox for speaking to the students and sharing a letter of gratitude — your words meant so much. And thanks to the DBHS Junior ROTC for the beautiful presentation of the flag.

Can your robot survive Freeze Tag?
Our VEX IQ basebots are built and sensor-ready — now we’re coding them to defend! Teams use color LED IDs, a successful tap freezes a bot for 55 seconds, and the lowest bumps wins.
Students are leveling up in design, programming, and strategy.

Middle School Theatre Presents: The Great Snow Day Negotiation |
Our middle school thespians have been hard at work rehearsing for this year’s winter production, The Great Snow Day Negotiation. Theatre students have added lively choreography and original music, while Set & Design students have built imaginative props and stage pieces to bring the story to life.
The show will be performed the last week before winter break for the school.
We’re proud of this cross-class collaboration and look forward to sharing the show with our school community and the families of the cast and crew. Stay tuned for exact dates and information.
