Thank you to our school community for being present to celebrate our Military Veterans this week. We were very proud of the large representation from our community for our school program.

We would also like to thank Ms. Blaser and her students for their tremendous program. We loved the grade level performances and student speaking parts to honor the service of our Veterans.

BETA Kindness

Student Voice

Students Write Messages for World Kindness Day

Sulphur Springs BETA club members created colorful chalk messages on the sidewalks for everyone to see. These messages were designed to promote kindness and positivity, celebrating World Kindness Day with unique and encouraging words.

Kindness is one of the daily actions at Sulphur Springs along with being respectful, confident, and encouraging. Thanks to the BETA club for reminding us as everyone entered the building!

CTE & Career NES Entertainment and automotive

Field Trip Experience at Northeast State Community College

Students participated in a field trip to the Technologies Department at Northeast State Community College, where they explored various Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs available.

Entertainment Technologies
During this segment, students gained insights into production aspects, including lighting, sound, recording, and preparing for high-level performances.

Automotive Program
In the automotive section, students learned about various engine types and career opportunities within the automotive field, including racing experiences similar to those at the Bristol Motor Speedway. An instructor offered one student the chance to enter and start a race car that had participated in numerous races.

Exciting Day at the Robot Drone League Jr. Competition!
Our elementary students showcased their skills at the Robot Drone League Jr. competition held at Sulphur Springs on Saturday. Competing against other area schools, our team not only racked up multiple awards but also demonstrated outstanding teamwork and sportsmanship. We are proud of their achievements and look forward to cheering them on as they compete in the championship at ETSU on January 25th! Go team! 🎉🤖

1st Graders Present Their Readers Theater Performance

The 1st graders showcase their play using the Readers Theater. Utilizing props that were created and prepared by the students themselves, the event fosters creativity while enhancing reading skills, contributing to improved comprehension and fluency.

STEAM Leaders by Example

RDL Jr student coaches are guiding the third-grade team members through mentorship. Evidence of their abilities to lead the team were demonstrated in the recent RDL Jr. Regional event held at Sulphur Springs.

Students are inspired by the examples set by their teachers and school leaders, who assisted during the RDL Jr. regional competition. Teacher leaders are empowering students to become leaders by dedicating their time and demonstrating exemplary behavior!

Field Trip Summary: Northeast State Community College Technologies Department

The recent field trip to the Technologies Department at Northeast State Community College featured an engaging visit to the cybersecurity lab. Students had the opportunity to meet an instructor who demonstrated just how quickly he could gain access to their cell phones!

During the visit, students learned about the significant amount of information contained in a single photo and discussed the importance of practicing safety while using technology.

Additionally, students were introduced to the Electro Mechanical & HVAC program. They observed hydraulics and pulley systems in action and explored the tools used for measurement. Participants also gained hands-on experience in preparing copper tubing for heating and air conditioning systems.

Q: What are school start and end times?

A: The first bell rings at 8:00. The dismissal bell rings at 3:00.

Q: What school supplies will my child need to provide?

A: Supply lists are posted on our website.

Q: Can my child ride a bus to school?

A: Yes! We have bus routes for SSES which can be found on our district website. Please contact our director of transportation, Tony Roberts, for any questions or for more information at 423.753.1172.

Q: What kind of technology will my child have access to?

A: All students at SSES will have access to their own Chromebook. Grades 6-8 are allowed to take their Chromebooks home with them. Students must submit a completed Chromebook permission form to receive a Chromebook.
