Dear Sulphur Spring Families,
This week at Sulphur Springs has been both productive and inspiring. Students in grades 3–8 have been focused on CASE testing, and a few of our educators attended the Federal Programs Conference in Gatlinburg, where they learned new ways to support students and families and even met Gerry Brooks!
Next week will be busy and exciting. We will start the week with finishing CASE testing in grades 3-8 and PreK-2 students will get to hear our beginning band students perform.
On Wednesday, PreK-5 students will be have the opportunity to participate in our "Polar Express Day" by wearing their favorite, school appropriate pajamas! Our Gamecock Golden Star Award Winners will be invited to eat a special lunch during their regular lunch time as well! More information will be sent home with those students on Monday.
This nine week's EPIC celebration will be on Thursday. To fully participate, students must have no detentions or suspensions this nine weeks, and grades 3–8 must have all assignments completed. Students from Boone will join us, and the day will end with the student vs. faculty basketball game.
Our winter plays will also take the stage. Middle school presents The Great Snow Day Negotiation, and third grade performs Gnomes to the Rescue on Tuesday, December 16, at 7 pm. Gnomes to the Rescue will also be performed for K–2 students on Wednesday, December 17 at 9 am. The Great Snow Day Negotiation will be shown three times during school hours on Thursday, December 18 at 8:15, 8:45, and 9:15 am. Families attending school-day performances must sign in through the front office via Raptor.
We hope everyone will come out to support our students at the basketball games on Monday, the plays on Tuesday, or both! The students truly appreciate the encouragement from our community.
Thank you for all the support and have a great weekend!
Krissi McInturff

Name: Gracie Jones
Grade/Subject: School Counselor
What do you like most about working at Sulphur Springs?
I enjoy so many things about Sulphur Springs, but our school community is truly my favorite part. You walk in the halls and immediately feel loved and supported. And our students are at the heart of that!
What inspired you to become a counselor?
I became a School Counselor to be an advocate for students. I had so many influential teachers in Washington County who shaped my own life, and they inspired me to pour into others the same way they poured into me. I love watching my students grow in all areas. Being able to walk alongside them, celebrate their wins, and support them through challenges is why I love being a School Counselor!
What is a fun fact or a hobby you enjoy?
My new favorite hobby is collecting house plants and trying to keep them alive!

On the Road with Kindergarten and 1st Grade
The kindergarten and 1st grade classes had an exciting field trip to see Barter Theatre's production of Jingle All the Way. The play is about Jangle the Elf, Santa's less-talented twin brother, who struggles in his sister Jingle's shadow at the North Pole; when a special, difficult-to-make toy is requested, Jangle must step up and use his unique skills to save Christmas and prove his worth.
What a great opportunity to see a play that connects with the engineering design process that encourages creativity for students!

Celebrating Artistic Achievements for Washington County Schools
Ella Maravich, Eli Campbell, and Ruby Hunigan received certificates from the Director of Schools, Mr. Boyd, for their participation in the Washington County Schools Christmas card art contest. Art is a great way to connect to the community!

Eighth-grade students used their building skills and knowledge of motors and generators to create a moving model. These activities let them learn about machines and electricity while boosting their creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork—important skills for future jobs and school success.
The students are taking on tougher engineering tasks confidently and easily, preparing for real-world challenges with skills they'll need in the future. The construction of these builds helps develop creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills that are valuable both within and beyond the classroom walls.

Parade Season...with Robotics |
The middle school robotics class joined the parade celebration as they transformed their Vex IQ robot bases into the backbone of dazzling parade floats!
With a chosen theme, they crafted a their designs to glide along the parade route. Using cardboard, popsicle sticks, craft sticks, dowels, fishing line, and their boundless creativity, the students brought their visions to life. As the parade floats led each elementary class through the school hallways, students cheered with enthusiasm, creating an exciting festive spectacle!
