Message from Mrs. Krissi McInturff

Dear Sulphur Springs Families,

I cannot believe the fall semester has already come to a close. The Sulphur Springs community is something special, and I feel blessed each day to be part of such a wonderful school and family.

We have so much to celebrate! Our school has been recognized as a TVAAS Level 5 school, a Reward School, and an ETSU Resilient School of Distinction. Most recently, we received an A letter grade from the Department of Education. These accomplishments are a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, students, and families who are all a part of Gamecock Nation. It truly is great to be a Gamecock!

As we look ahead to January, students will return to school on Tuesday, January 6. Physical report cards and other important information will be sent home on Wednesday, January 7. Please be sure to sign and return the manila envelope these materials will come home in.

I hope each of you enjoys the next two weeks resting, recharging, and spending time with family and friends during this holiday season.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year.

Sincerely,

Krissi McInturff

Educator of the Week

Name: Ivy Blaser

Grade/Subject: Music

What do you enjoy most about teaching at Sulphur Springs?

I enjoy the relationships I have built with the students at our school. Our students are wonderful, and teaching related arts allows me to build connections with every single one of them. Each day, I am surrounded by loving students and supportive faculty. The strong sense of community we have built within the school is something I truly cherish.

What inspired you to become a teacher?

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I remember music class in elementary school being my favorite part of the week. I wanted to share my love of music with others and give students the same positive experiences I had growing up.

What’s a fun fact or hobby you enjoy?

I enjoy gardening during the summer and have a growing collection of houseplants.

CTE Students Learning Culinary Skills

As part of the Culinary section in Career Explorations, students planned and prepared sweet treats for the faculty and staff. Students learned how to measure ingredients and how to bring together a final product that they hand delivered with a smile!

Along the way, the students learned how to problem solve and develop new techniques to make their products a success. AND, of course, they also discovered the importance of taste testing their own products.

Middle School Play: "The Great Snow Day Negotiation" — A Big Success!

What a magical week! Our middle school production of "The Great Snow Day Negotiation" was a huge success. Students delivered four stellar performances, including special showings for the entire school.

This production was a true team effort: huge thanks to Mrs. Pate’s set design class for the beautiful scenery and to Mrs. Yarber’s theatre class for bringing the story to life with energy and heart. We hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did!

Get excited! After winter break we’ll jump right into producing The Lion King. See you in the new year!
