Message from Mrs. Krissi McInturff

Dear Sulphur Spring Families,

It has been another eventful week here at the Springs. On Monday, we were able to celebrate Homecoming in between basketball games. Our students did a fantastic job. Congratulations to Madison and Callan for being crowned Homecoming King and Queen!

Today, we celebrated our recognition as a 2024-2025 Reward School. Students arrived this morning, walked down a red carpet, and later in class received a certificate recognizing their role in making this achievement possible. Our faculty and staff were also treated to Trailblazer sausage biscuits in appreciation of their hard work.

Throughout the week, classrooms were busy and engaged. Sixth graders learned about Israel in Social Studies, while third graders explored Tennessee's three Grand Divisions. I also had the chance to visit 5th grade math, where students were creating improper fractions. Our third-eighth grade classes also spent some time preparing and reviewing for CASE assessments that begin on Monday. Please check with your child's teacher for specific dates. Students have been revisiting the goals they set after the first CASE assessment, and teachers have been reviewing strategies to help them succeed.

As we wrap up this week, I want to thank our families and community for their continued support. Your encouragement and involvement make a tremendous difference in the success of our students and staff. We are grateful for all you do to help make Sulphur Springs such a special place to learn and grow.

Have a great weekend!

Krissi McInturff

Educator of the Week

Name: Mrs. Betsy Hartman

Grade/Subject: Kindergarten Instructional Assistant

How long have you worked at Sulphur Springs?

I became an Instructional Assistant after several years as a substitute and volunteer at Sulphur Springs. I was offered an instructional assistant position in 2018-19. I was so excited to begin this new chapter.

What inspired you to become an instructional assistant?

I have always had a passion for working with children. I first realized this passion by teaching Sunday School and Awanna years before working in the school setting. Seeing the joy and excitement of children learning is truly a blessing.

What do you enjoy most about working with students?

The most exciting part of my job is working with kindergarteners. From teaching them their letters and sounds, to them reading their first book, to me, is so exciting! It's like watching a baby take his first step. Getting to watch those students move from first grade to higher grades makes me smile.

What is a fun fact or a hobby you enjoy?

What I enjoy most is being with my family! I have been blessed with my husband, Randall, four children, and three precious grandchildren. I love Sulphur Springs and am genuinely grateful to be part of this wonderful school community.

 Circut Success in 2nd Grade

The 2nd grade students are studying circuits. They put their leaning to the test using kits with batteries, a battery holder, switches, lights, and a fan. First step in the process asked students to place batteries into the holder in the correct direction. They looked for the positive and negative signs to be sure the battery would provide power.

Students worked in teams to determine how to design the circuts...and were successful with lots of different circuit patterns. A successful circuit day in 2nd grade!

CPR Training for Health Sciences Class

Under the supervision of our school nurses, 17 middle school students successfully obtained their CPR certification. They gained a thorough understanding of the importance of each step involved in CPR and practiced using an AED.

Each group had to demonstrate their proficiency by executing all the required steps under the watchful eyes of our nurses. The students remained attentive and serious, fully aware of the significance of the procedure.

So proud of our students learning skills for a lifetime!
