Message from Mrs. Krissi McInturff |
Dear Families,
What a week it has been! We started Monday with parent-teacher conferences. It was wonderful to connect with families and discuss ways we can continue to support student success. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there are additional ways we can partner to help your child have a successful school year.
On Tuesday, we held our school-wide Spelling Bee. All of our students did an outstanding job, and I was extremely impressed with their preparation and effort. Congratulations to our winners and runners-up! Wednesday evening featured a fantastic second-grade performance, followed by our Community Resource Night. A special thank you to Ivy Blaser and Gracie Good for their hard work in making this such a successful and meaningful event for our families.
Thursday, family and friends of Sulphur Springs gifted our faculty and staff with a soda bar! I made a vanilla soda! Thank you American Environmental for your donation!
Today, many classrooms celebrated Valentine’s Day. I’ve loved seeing all of the creative Valentine boxes that have been coming in all week. Tonight, we will host our 5–8 Dance, and I look forward to seeing everyone dressed up and ready for a fun evening. Congratulations to this week’s Gamecock Golden Star Award recipients. We are proud of your positive behavior and great attitudes!
Have a wonderful long weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday. Krissi McInturff Principal |

Name: Holly Moffitt Role: 5th Grade Math & Science What do you enjoy most about working at Sulphur Springs?:
What I love most about Sulphur Springs is the feeling of family the moment you walk through the doors. Our small class sizes allow me to truly know my students—who they are, what they need, and what makes them shine. Sulphur Springs is literally part of my family’s story - my grandmother taught here in the 1950s and my mother started school here. I also grew up walking these same halls, so getting to teach here feels like coming full circle. I’m grateful every day to be home. What inspired you to be a teacher? I became a teacher because one incredible educator changed my life. Their encouragement and belief in me made a lasting impact, and I knew I wanted to offer that same support to my own students. I love working with young people, sharing knowledge, and helping students gain confidence and skills they can use beyond the classroom. Teaching also runs in my family, so following this path felt both natural and meaningful. What’s a fun fact or hobby you enjoy?: A fun fact about me—my husband shows speed racking horses, and together we spend a lot of time at horse shows and on the trails. Riding is one of our favorite ways to unwind and explore the outdoors! |
Introducing: Family Connection Days! |
Here at SS, we have been brainstorming new ways to help families stay connected. One of the best ways to do this is by setting up the WCS app. Within this one app, families can receive real-time announcements from the school and from individual teachers through their classroom “rooms.”
If you need help getting started or navigating the app, we are happy to help. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, simply send Mrs. McInturff an email at mcinturffk@wcde.org with the time and date you would prefer to meet.
We can also assist families with navigating PowerSchool or other websites their students use during this time, including setting up alerts that notify you when your child’s grade changes due to a new assignment.
Upcoming Dates: February 23, March 2 Available Times: Morning, Midday, or 3 pm-6 pm | |

Can we call it musical science?
Our 2nd graders connected their study of sound to a delightful Valentine’s Day music program! They learned new songs, followed directions beautifully, and clearly had a blast — a wonderful example of classroom learning flowing into related arts. What a joy to see academic concepts come alive through music. |
| Our 4th graders brought paleontology to life! After creating models using dinosaur fossil replicas, each student represented a mold & cast, trace, or inclusion fossil. They researched the age and description of their model, used hands-on practice to cement concepts, and took ownership of their learning — boosting curiosity and retention. |

Practicing Building Skills |
How do we prepare middle school students for STEM careers?
Through hands-on CTE experiences that combine construction materials, motorized extensions, and VEX EXP automation & robotics. Students gain practical skills—using tools, understanding balanced forces, and exploring motors and generators—while developing creativity and problem-solving. This project-based approach builds both technical literacy and confidence. |
