Message from Mrs. Krissi McInturff |
Dear Families,
I hope everyone has had a great week! We have been learning and growing here at The Springs.
One of my favorite moments this week was attending our first All Pro Dad meeting. Dads and their children were able to intentionally set aside time for authentic conversations. Dads were given the opportunity to share specific reasons why they are proud of their children, creating some truly meaningful moments. Our leader also discussed the importance of consistency—whether that is building inventions, brushing your teeth, or making time for family connections. Our next All Pro Dad meeting will be held on March 25 in the Little Theatre. Due to the incredible turnout, we have already outgrown the library! Remember, this group may be called "All Pro Dad" but it is open to any male guardian or caring adult who wants to invest in a child's life.
Looking ahead, be sure to mark your calendars for our “Roar Into Reading” Literacy Night on Tuesday, March 3 from 6:00–8:00 PM. Pizza will be served, bouncy houses will be jumped, and hole-in-ones in putt-putt will be celebrated! Each grade span will host safari-themed stations that are both fun and educational. Students who complete all stations will receive coupons redeemable at school, such as hat passes, extra recess, or lunch with a teacher. In addition, our Middle School Theatre class will present two showings of The Lion King at 6:10 PM and 7:10 PM. Tickets will be available as families enter. We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of learning, fun, and community! Remote Learning Information
As you know, we are preparing for the possibility of remote learning in the event of additional inclement weather. Our faculty and staff have met throughout the week to thoughtfully plan what this would look like for our students at Sulphur Springs.
To make this process as smooth and manageable as possible for families, each student has been provided with an individual “Inclement Weather” Packet. Our hope is that these packets remain in students’ backpacks until they are needed. Each packet includes clear directions, a daily schedule, and all materials and resources needed to complete the day’s learning. The packets will contain work for two instructional days, and completed assignments are expected to be returned on the day students come back to school.
Teachers will also have scheduled times throughout the day when they are available to support students, answer questions, or meet virtually for additional guidance as needed.
Just like any other instructional day, attendance will be taken. On remote learning days, we will use the WCDE app and Rooms as our primary communication tool for attendance check-ins. Families should also feel free to reach out to their child’s homeroom teacher using any other provided contact methods. To be marked present, we ask that either the student or a family member send a message confirming that the student is working on their packet for the day. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we plan ahead to keep learning moving forward. As always, please feel free to contact the school or your child’s homeroom teacher with any questions or concerns. Krissi McInturff Principal |

Name: Diana O'Neal Role: CTE/STEM Teacher What do you enjoy most about working at Sulphur Springs?: What I love most about teaching at Sulphur Springs is the strong sense of community. Our faculty, families, and community partners are truly committed to supporting our students. It is rewarding to work where everyone genuinely cares about the whole student and has a strong desire for our students to be prepared and successful in their future endeavors. What inspired you to be a teacher? I never planned to be a teacher, but my career path led me here. I enjoyed being a dental hygienist, but an unexpected change pushed me to earn a teaching degree. I love learning and want students to have every opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and experiences.
What’s a fun fact or hobby you enjoy?: I love being outside gardening and then canning the vegetables. My husband and I are 18th century reenactors and enjoy presenting living history from the 1750s-1790s. |
Introducing: Family Connection Days! |
Here at SS, we have been brainstorming new ways to help families stay connected. One of the best ways to do this is by setting up the WCS app. Within this one app, families can receive real-time announcements from the school and from individual teachers through their classroom “rooms.”
If you need help getting started or navigating the app, we are happy to help. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, simply send Mrs. McInturff an email at mcinturffk@wcde.org with the time and date you would prefer to meet.
We can also assist families with navigating PowerSchool or other websites their students use during this time, including setting up alerts that notify you when your child’s grade changes due to a new assignment.
Upcoming Dates: February 23, March 2 Available Times: Morning, Midday, or 3 pm-6 pm |
Students will be performing Disney's The Lion King Kids musical Tuesday, March 3rd at 6:10 and 7:10 pm in the Little Theater. Tickets for this event will be free and distributed on a first come, first serve basis. |

Drone Pilots & Rover Drivers
|
Our 3rd graders are excelling as drone pilots and robot vehicle drivers as they participate in the Robot Drone League Jr team. Here, they gain new skills and showcase their expertise in drones, remote vehicles, coding, the engineering design process, and teamwork.
Student coaches from grades 4-6, who previously competed in RDL Jr., are guiding them as they prepare to navigate a mission field with both the drone and robot moving simultaneously. Team members will also tackle STEM questions while the drones and robots are manuevering around the course. Students are enhancing life skills in critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. It's an exciting journey of learning and discovery! |

8th Graders Tour Daniel Boone High School |
Eighth graders recently visited Daniel Boone High School to learn about courses and expectations as they prepare to become freshmen. The key takeaway for new students is to get involved in a club, course, or sport to enhance their high school experience.
During the visit, students toured the CTE and fine arts classes, providing a glimpse into various career pathways and interests. They also learned about the CTE certifications available at the high school level. Students are encouraged to attend the AMP Camp in July. This camp offers a chance to meet peers from other schools, walk through the building using their own schedules, and build relationships through fun and engaging activities. |

Practicing Building Skills |
To inspire 8th-grade students about future careers and educational opportunities, they visited the new TCAT location in Boones Creek.
They were introduced to they types of certification programs offered and learned about dual enrollment, which lets them take advanced courses while still in high school. This experience assists them in opening their eyes to planning courses that align with their future goals, making them career-ready and excited about their paths ahead! |
