Message From Dr. Little

STEM DESIGNATION

As we approach the well-deserved Spring Break, I want to take a moment to thank each of you—students, families, teachers, and staff—for your continued hard work, resilience, and support throughout the school year.

Spring is a time of renewal and growth, and I hope this break offers everyone a chance to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with loved ones. Whether you're traveling, catching up on reading, or simply enjoying some downtime, may it be filled with joy and relaxation.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back on March 31st, refreshed and ready to finish the school year strong!

Take care, be safe, and enjoy the break!

Designing with a Hummingbird Robot

The 7th and 8th grade students are working on an inspiring project where students have merged computer engineering with the engineering design process!

They have designed characters and scenes from selected children's books using cardboard while learning to code Hummingbird Robots, which feature LED lights and servo motors for movement. This hands-on experience not only enhances their technical skills but also fosters creativity as they prepare to share their projects with kindergarten students.

Innovative and creative as they work in student teams!

Celebrating Success!

Mrs. Pate treated our students to cake and popcorn as they celebrated the success of their play, The Jungle Book. The festivities continued with a fun karaoke session on the last day of the third nine weeks! As we kick off the final nine weeks of the year, exciting activities await. Our sixth graders are diving into computer science, while grades K-5 continue exploring engineering design challenges, literature, poetry, and 3D printing in 4th and 5th grades. Wishing everyone a wonderful spring break! 🌼🎉

Filling the Pot of Gold
🌟✨ Kindergarten students were challenged to help the leprechaun fill his pot with gold! Our kindergarteners are using their math skills to solve how many more pieces are needed to reach 10! By selecting an initial number and calculating how many more are needed, students enhance their problem-solving skills in a fun, interactive way.

Look at the smiling faces of the kindergarten students as they accomplished their goal...and the leprechauns are smiling too!

Planning, Designing, & Building

Our 5th grade science students engaged in an exciting project where they planned, designed, and built roller coasters using everyday materials like cardboard and paper plates.

The hands-on experience allowed them to explore the principles of gravity, energy transfer, and the engineering design process. By fostering teamwork and creativity, the students are preparing to be our future innovators!

Comparing Anatomy: Chicken Wing Dissection

Recently, our 8th graders dove into an exciting hands-on project focusing on the anatomy of chicken wings. They studied and compared these wings with those of other animals. This investigation incorporated science and engineering methods, enabling students to discover anatomical similarities and grasp the relationship between structure and function.

By examining real-world examples, students improved their understanding of intricate concepts. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to analyze information through interactive exploration!
