CPR Certifications in CTE

Students recently completed their CPR certifications, gaining essential skills to respond effectively in emergency situations. They were trained to assess both the environment and the individual when encountering someone who is unconscious, ensuring a safe and informed approach.

Throughout their instruction, students practiced the critical steps needed to revive someone who is not breathing. They learned the importance of performing chest compressions and administering breaths in a timely manner, a skill that can truly make a difference in saving lives.

In addition, students became proficient in using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a vital tool in the CPR process that enhances their ability to assist those in need.

Here’s what some students had to say about the significance of CPR training: "Participating in CPR training equipped me with a vital skill that could potentially save a life."

A special thank you to our Coordinated School Health nurses for collaborating with our students to teach these invaluable real-life skills!

Engaging Young Minds: Animal Skull Investigation

Our 1st-grade students stepped into the role of "Animal Skull Detectives," utilizing observational skills to identify skulls and learn about animal diets. By analyzing eye sockets, brain space, and teeth structures, they distinguished a coyote from a fox and identified a raccoon as an omnivore.

Hands-on, inquiry-based learning fosters critical thinking and scientific curiosity in young learners. Encouraging observational skills and exploring nature!

Coding a Song

Students discovered a new and innovative approach by writing their own songs using Code.org. The experience allows them to use their problem solving skills and enhances creativity.

Encouraging students to take risks and try out new methods of music creation helps build their confidence and encourages experimentation.

What an exciting and interactive activity to inspire and engage learners!

Generating Energy With Turbines

Students actively engage with renewable energy concepts through hands-on projects involving small-scale wind turbines. By experimenting with blade designs and utilizing sensors for data collection, they gain valuable insights into the engineering design process and the factors affecting electricity generation. The used a multi-meter tool and a light and sound panel for testing their product.

After testing their initial design, student teams designed and tested their own turbine blades. Blade design required students to consider the type of material used, the number of blades, and the positioning of blades to increase the amount of energy produced.

This practical approach fosters problem-solving skills and encourages creativity in renewable energy solutions.
