Message from Mrs. Krissi McInturff |
Dear Families,
Thank you for your patience as we continue adding extra security and improvements to our new entrance.
Morning arrival will remain the same. Buses will continue to drop students off at the gym entrance, and car rider drop-off will take place in the usual location.
During the school day, the main entrance will be closed. For any daytime needs, including late student drop-offs, early check-outs, or visitor sign-ins, please use the back awning entrance.
If you are visiting the school or picking up your child, please be sure to bring a valid ID.
Please use the Bayless entrance to access the back awning entrance, and remember to drive slowly when entering the area.
We appreciate your cooperation and hope you have a great weekend!
Krissi McInturff Principal

How long have you been teaching?: I have been teaching over 20 years in Washington County and Sulphur Springs has become like a second home to me.
What do you enjoy most about teaching at Sulphur Springs?: I love teaching at Sulphur Springs because the community is so welcoming, the teachers and staff here are supportive and fun to work with, and the beautiful location of our school.
What inspired you to become an art teacher? My mom inspired me to be a teacher. She said I had always worked well with children, and after getting my undergraduate degree in art, I returned to college for my Master's degree in Teaching.
What’s a fun fact or hobby you enjoy?: I enjoy a variety of hobbies such as practicing guitar, cooking healthy meals for my family, learning about foraging and herbalism, and of course, creating Art! Art Project Comes to Life
|
Middle school related-arts students are bringing an eye-catching mural to life on the stairwell walls leading to the upstairs classes! Guided by art teacher Mrs. Pate, students designed a vibrant piece inspired by Tennessee’s signature landmarks and our own Sulphur Springs Elementary. They also incorporated images that represent the school’s programs and spirit.
This bold, student-driven project is being painted by the designers and artists themselves — a powerful, community-centered piece that will greet everyone as they climb the stairs.

SSES Sparkles at the Washington County Art Show!
|
We are thrilled to celebrate our incredibly talented SSES students who were recently featured at the Washington County Art Show.
From our youngest creators in kindergarten to our sophisticated middle schoolers, SSES was represented across every grade level. The exhibit was a showcase of a variety of mediums and themes.. At SSES, art is a vital part of development giving students an outlet to express their world. It builds critical thinking, fine-tunes problem-solving skills, and boosts confidence. So proud of all our featured artists for showing the community for SSES!

Poetree Celebration for National Poetry Month
Students from PreK through middle school have been contributing to our beautiful “Poetree” display in celebration of National Poetry Month this April. Leaves on the tree feature both original poems written by our students and some of their favorite poems to share with others.
In addition, some students have been decorating colorful butterflies that “pollinate” our Poetree, symbolizing how poetry spreads creativity and inspiration.
We hope you enjoy our growing Poetree! Be sure to take a moment to stop, read a few poems, and appreciate the creativity of our students as you pass by.
