Trees Planted on SSES Grounds!

Thanks to a grant obtained by Logan Clark and Twana McKinney, Sulphur Springs Elementary School have nine new trees planted around the playgrounds and other student spaces.

Students assisted the planting and mulching around the trees. Two representatives from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture in Forestry explained the proper method for planting, mulching, and caring for the trees.

We are looking forward to the shade these trees will provide in the future!

VEX IQ Robotics Event

At the recent VEX IQ Robotics Event, our students demonstrated remarkable problem-solving and teamwork skills. They skillfully navigated a challenging course while competing in a soccer match, showcasing their precision driving abilities. After an initial setback with their claw's functionality, the team quickly innovated a new design that impressed the crowd.

In a required presentation, students proposed valuable ideas for robotic assistance in school settings, such as collecting pencils from the floor before they are swept away and retrieving sports balls from beyond the fence. These experiences not only enhance technical skills but also foster creativity and collaboration.

Creativity, collaboration, and good communication skills helped to make day successful...great work VEX Crew!

Library MindCave News

MindCave

Robot Drone League Jr. and 5th grade students wrapped up the school year with an exciting field trip to the TVA Boone Dam. They toured inside the dam to see engineering in action, learned about local marine animals from a biologist—including getting to touch some—and had the chance to ask questions to an engineer who worked on the 8-year Boone Dam repair and the Nolichucky Dam during Hurricane Helene.
