In an exciting display of teamwork and sportsmanship, our girls volleyball team took on the SSES teachers in a friendly competition. The students cheered passionately as both teams demonstrated remarkable effort, with the girls winning 2 out of 3 matches. Such events foster community spirit and collaboration in our school environment.

Construction Projects: Building Mini Houses

🌍 Exciting educational initiatives are underway in our 6th-grade class! Students are engaged in a hands-on project where they design and build mini houses using Lego pieces. This activity not only fosters creativity but also integrates concepts of energy sources in architecture. By planning, drawing, and constructing, students are developing critical skills for the future. Innovative strategies to inspire creativity!

Solving Problems with Drones!

Our 4th graders are hard at work preparing for Family STEAM Night! They’ve created a detailed map showcasing the flood damage in Erwin and Jonesborough, and are constructing an innovative obstacle course that represents the Unicoi hospital for a drone flight experience.

On Tuesday night, the Robot Drone League Jr. team shared insights about their past competitions and wowed us with a live demonstration featuring RVRs and drones.

Empowering future leaders in STEM! 💡 Mrs. Knight's middle school students successfully conducted a mini lesson for K-5, fostering relationships and enthusiasm for science through engaging experiments. The middle school students led a mini lesson for K-5, planning experiments and working in groups to engage the students.🧪💡 After the activities, the young scientists even graded their "teachers."This collaborative approach not only enhances learning but also builds connections across grade levels.

Q: What are school start and end times?

A: The first bell rings at 8:00. The dismissal bell rings at 3:00.

Q: What school supplies will my child need to provide?

A: Supply lists are posted on our website.

Q: Can my child ride a bus to school?

A: Yes! We have bus routes for SSES which can be found on our district website. Please contact our director of transportation, Tony Roberts, for any questions or for more information at 423.753.1172.

Q: What kind of technology will my child have access to?

A: All students at SSES will have access to their own Chromebook. Grades 6-8 are allowed to take their Chromebooks home with them. Students must submit a completed Chromebook permission form to receive a Chromebook.
